When the 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships open at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland on March 19th, one question will hang over every bracket: can anyone stop Penn State?

The numbers say probably not.

Head coach Cael Sanderson’s squad enters the postseason with all ten starters ranked in the top 12 nationally — five of them ranked No. 1 at their weight. The Nittany Lions went 14-0 in the regular season, clinching their sixth consecutive Big Ten Regular Season Championship with a dominant 36-5 demolition of Ohio State in front of a record-setting crowd of 16,006 at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Five undefeated wrestlers. Five No. 1 rankings. Two true freshmen already competing at an elite level. A returning national champion in Mesenbrink and a 2024 title winner in Haines. The roster is a blend of proven stars and newcomers who wrestle like they’ve been here before — because at Penn State, the standard is the standard.

The Big Ten Championships on March 7-8 at the Bryce Jordan Center will serve as the final tuneup, but make no mistake: Cleveland is the destination. And Penn State is coming with a roster that may be the most complete top-to-bottom lineup in the history of college wrestling.

The only question left is how many individual titles they’ll take home.
